Oh no, you think, as a set of gear is thrust into your farm-calloused hands. You’ve never been trained as a soldier, let alone asked to fight on a dangerous battlefield!

But here you are, suddenly marching in a column of your neighbors. You have been told to travel miles away from your home in order to protect the king’s castle, and you just hope that somehow you’ll make it back. At least your new Belt and Holder feel solid around your waist. Your sword sits comfortably within its frog, so there’s no chance it will be lost on your journey. That’s something to be thankful for, at least...right?

DETAILS

Epic Armoury’s Ready for Battle Belt and Holder Brown/Red is a set of costume accessory essentials. Every young or starting adventurer needs a belt and a frog for their weapon, so we’ve included both in one package! Included in this set is the brown leather Laced Belt, and the red RFB Small Holder.

The bestselling Laced Belt is a great belt for hanging weapon holders, bags and other equipment. The belt is made from chrome-tanned split-leather and laced at the edges with a flattened leather-cord from end to end. It comes with a rounded iron buckle and a long belt-tongue with 13 holes, making the belt highly adjustable.

The RFB Small Holder is a short frog designed to keep your weapon conveniently close. The 9 cm frog is open at both ends, and will accommodate a weapon up to 5 cm in diameter by adjusting the leather lacing. Match this RFB Small Holder with any character you wish to equip by securing the holder to your belt through the 5 cm belt loop. Made from heavy canvas and top-grain leather stitched around the edges, this lightweight weapon holder is built to withstand the abuse of a LARP with regular canvas and leather care. The RFB Small Holder can be worn right-handed.

Natural leather products are very durable, but require regular maintenance with leather care products to stay flexible and to increase life-time. Make sure your leather products are kept dry when stored. Let wet leather dry naturally before treating. If frequently wet and dry, increase frequency of maintenance.

Cleaning

It is best to start cleaning leather from the most delicate measures possible. Therefore, use a damp cloth with a little soap. If this is not enough - use a hard brush to remove dirt. Remove the soap with a separate damp cloth to wipe away any soap residue, and then use a dry cloth to wipe away the remaining water from the leather. Let it dry completely before the next maintenance step.

Conditioning

Always keep the leather maintenance after cleaning, because the soap will remove some of its natural oils. Apply mink oil, olive oil or professional lanolin-based fats to clean leather using a clean cloth, gently rubbing a small amount of fat with circular movements. Wait for the fat to soak in the leather, then use a clean cloth to clog the residue. For maintenance, you can also use beeswax by heating it to a liquid state and applying it to the leather. Remember that the leather so preserved will be harder and significantly darken what sometimes is the desired effect.
